A member appreciation event built like a world-class festival.

Mountain America Credit Union's MACU Fest is one of Utah's largest single-day member appreciation events — a free outdoor festival open to MACU members and their families. The 2025 SLC edition at Thanksgiving Point brought together 3,000+ guests for an evening of live music, lawn games, food trucks, entertainment, and community. A live headliner performed. A drone show closed the night.

In The Event built the entire festival footprint. Every zone — from the dual registration entrances and wayfinding tower system to the leather lounge areas, lawn game fields, swag pavilion, photo experiences, and concert stage surrounds — was designed, sourced, staffed, and executed by one team. Over 15 distinct areas. Hundreds of individual pieces. One evening to get it right.

The Challenge

MACU Fest isn't a corporate event with a defined room and a fixed footprint. It's an outdoor festival that requires an entire temporary environment to be built in open space — registration infrastructure, wayfinding, lounge areas, activity zones, food and beverage stations, entertainment stages, photo experiences, and green rooms — all of it sourced, transported, placed, and staffed by a single production team.

The challenge was scale and simultaneity. Every zone had to be fully built and ready when the gates opened at 4pm on July 12th — and every zone had to feel intentional. Lounge furniture arranged for conversation. Lawn games lit for the evening. Photo booth backdrops set and dressed. Signage towers positioned so 3,000 guests could find their way across Thanksgiving Point's outdoor grounds without a map.

  • Dual registration entrances for 3,000+ guests
  • 8 branded wayfinding tower stations
  • Full leather lounge areas with wood arbor shade structures
  • Extensive lawn game zone with custom chalk art
  • 4 photo experiences — vintage vehicles + custom backdrops
  • Swag pavilion with 21 tables and overhead signage
  • Concert stage surrounds and artist green rooms
  • Complete event logistics and crew across all zones

What We Built

Services Delivered

In The Event designed and built every zone of MACU Fest — the full festival environment from the front gate to the concert field.

Registration & Wayfinding Dual registration entrances with 12 branded counters and bag check stations. Eight 8-foot branded tower stations positioned across the grounds with custom graphics on every panel, plus A-frame signs throughout — so 3,000 guests could navigate the festival without friction from the moment they arrived.
Lounge Areas Two fully furnished outdoor lounge environments — one in black leather, one in gray — each with sofas, chairs, ottomans, benches, coffee tables, and side tables arranged under custom wood arbor structures with shade sails and market umbrellas. Both areas were designed as genuine gathering spaces, not afterthoughts.
Lawn Games & Activities A fully built lawn game zone with cornhole (LED and wood), giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, Kan Jam, horseshoes, Adirondack chairs, bean bag seating, and wireless tube lighting throughout. Four large-scale chalk stencil art installations by professional chalk artists gave the ground itself a festival identity.
Photo Experiences Four photo booth setups — the Gus Photo Bus, MACU Car, Pippa Photo Bus, and MACU Bronco — each with custom framing structures, 90s prop packages, and work tables. Every setup was independently configured and camera-ready before gates opened.
Swag Pavilion & Raffle A 21-table swag pavilion with colorful spandex table covers, an overhead display structure with double-sided hanging signs, and a separate raffle area framed by boxwood hedge panels — built as a genuine destination within the festival, not a utility tent.
Concert & Stage Support Stage surround design with branded tower frames, Hyperion wireless light tubes, and Titan Tube lighting. Artist green rooms for Neon Trees with full food, beverage, and small appliance packages. Wireless 4K camera with stabilizing vest for live coverage. Entertainment area high boys with pixel brick lighting for 3,000 standing guests.

The Execution

In The Event loaded in on July 11th and spent the next 30 hours turning Thanksgiving Point's open grounds into a fully operational festival. Fifteen zones. Hundreds of individual pieces of furniture, equipment, signage, and lighting — each one placed, dressed, and working before a single guest arrived.

By 4pm on July 12th, the registration counters were staffed, the lounges were arranged, the lawn games were lit, and the green rooms were stocked. Three thousand people walked in and found a festival. That's the work.

  • 15+ festival zones built simultaneously
  • Dual registration for 3,000+ arrivals
  • 8 branded wayfinding towers across the grounds
  • Black and gray leather lounge areas with arbors
  • Full lawn game zone with chalk art and pixel lighting
  • 4 photo experiences — all custom framed and propped
  • 21-table swag pavilion with overhead display
  • Boxwood hedge raffle area installation
  • Neon Trees artist green rooms with full F&B
  • Wireless 4K camera for live concert coverage

Graphics & Set Jun 24 – Jul 12, 2025 Weeks of prep + full build day

Custom graphics production ran from June 24th through July 11th — tower panels, counter graphics, A-frames, overhead signs, and photo booth elements all produced and proofed before build day. On July 11th, the crew loaded in and built the full 15-zone festival footprint at Thanksgiving Point, completing setup by 3pm on July 12th.

Run July 12, 2025 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Six hours of live festival. Registration lanes processed 3,000+ arrivals. Every zone — lounge areas, lawn games, photo experiences, swag pavilion, entertainment areas, and the concert field — ran simultaneously with In The Event crew on the ground across all of them. Neon Trees closed the night. A drone show followed.

Strike July 13, 2025 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Full teardown of all 15 zones — furniture, lounge structures, arbors, shade sails, wayfinding towers, lawn game equipment, photo booth framing, pavilion structures, boxwood hedges, and stage surrounds — all loaded out and Thanksgiving Point returned to baseline in a single day.
