Event Tents: Types to Consider for Your Event

June 28, 2022

In part one of this two-part blog series, we looked at some of the key benefits associated with utilizing outdoor tents for your event needs. Tents are common items for many outdoor events, allowing for several comfort and aesthetic benefits while also making cleanup much simpler in many cases.

At In The Event, we’re happy to offer a huge selection of outdoor tents and related event accessories as part of our comprehensive event rentals program. In today’s part two of our series, we’ll dig into some of the common tent types that are available for those running events, plus which might be right for your needs.

Pole Tents

Some of the most common and popular types of party tents are known as pole tents. These structures get their name form the fact that they’re supported by center and/or side poles, with the canopy of the tent itself extending outwards to provide coverage.

Pole tents are common for a variety of outdoor events, including weddings, graduations, birthday parties, and more. They’re especially popular for larger events since they can be easily scaled up or down in size as needed.

Frame Tents

Another common type of outdoor tent is known as a frame tent. As the name implies, these structures are supported by an aluminum or steel frame rather than center or side poles. The canopy of the frame tent is then pulled over the top of this frame to provide coverage.

One of the benefits of frame tents is that they can be installed on virtually any type of surface, including asphalt, concrete, grass, and more. This makes them a bit more versatile than pole tents in some cases.

Another key benefit is that frame tents don’t have any center poles, which can get in the way when you’re trying to utilize the full interior space of the tent.

Pop-Up Tents

You might also hear outdoor tents referred to as pop-up tents in some cases. These structures are similar to frame tents, but they’re usually smaller and more portable. Pop-up tents are also easy to set up and take down, making them a good option for those who don’t want to deal with the hassle of traditional tent rental methods.

Concession Tents

For any outdoor event where you’ll be selling food or drinks, it’s also important to have a concession tent. These structures are similar to frame tents, but they’re outfitted with special features that make them ideal for hosting concession stands.

For example, most concession tents will have screened windows to keep bugs out while still allowing customers to see what’s being sold inside. Concession tents can also be equipped with serving counters, shelves, and other features as needed.
