Utah Anniversary Party Planning: Host, Budget, Location

If you’re involved in throwing an anniversary party for any couple in your life, this may be a slightly different experience than other kinds of events you’ve hosted. With the right basic planning and detail management, however, it’s very easy to plan a wonderful anniversary celebration that’s both affordable and enjoyable for all involved.

At In The Event, we’re happy to assist with event planning and event rental services for a variety of Utah event needs, including small events like anniversary parties, birthdays and more. In this two-part blog series, we’ll go over a number of basic tips we regularly offer clients who are planning anniversary parties on how to move forward optimally.

Choose the Host in Advance

Firstly, it’s important that you choose the anniversary party host in advance. In many cases, this will be the couple themselves. However, in other scenarios it may make more sense for someone else to step in and handle this key role. Once you’ve identified the primary host, be sure to communicate with them frequently throughout the planning process to ensure that everything is proceeding according to their vision.

Set a Budget

Next, it’s time to set a budget for the party. The host will need to understand how much money they’re willing and able to spend on the event before proceeding with any specific plans. Once you have a budget in place, you can start exploring locations, caterers, activities and other key components with confidence.

Consider the Location

Another concept it’s good to get an early start on when planning an anniversary party is the event location. If the couple is comfortable hosting the party at their own home, that can be a great option to keep costs down. However, if they would prefer to host the event elsewhere, there are a number of options to consider.

Banquet halls, country clubs, restaurants, parks and more can all be excellent choices for such parties. Some couples may even opt to celebrate their anniversary with a destination party at a location that holds special meaning to them.

Decide on Theme(s)

As you’re planning the event, it can also be helpful to decide on one or more themes that will guide the overall design and feel of the party. A theme can make the planning process much easier by helping you to zero in on specific details like invitations, decorations, food and drink options and more.

For example, if the couple has a shared passion for a particular hobby or activity, you could build the party around that theme. Or, you could choose a more general theme like “vintage” or “elegant” and pull ideas from there. The most important thing is to make sure the chosen theme(s) reflect the couple’s personality and interests so that they feel truly honored by the event.
