If it’s at all possible, try to find some time to walk through your planned event venue before selecting your linens and coverings. Doing this will give you a much better idea of the types of colors and fabrics that might work best in the space. Plus, it’s always helpful to have a general idea of the layout of your event before making any big decisions.

As you’re walking through the venue, take note of any areas that might be problematic in terms of color or fabric clashes. For example, if your event venue has a lot of hardwood floors and white walls, you’ll want to avoid choosing tablecloths and runners with very busy prints or dark colors. On the other hand, if your event is being held in a more casual setting, such as a park, a simple white tablecloth and matching napkins might be a better option.

Consider Your Lighting

Another vital element to keep an eye on as you’re walking through the venue is the lighting. Different types of light can create very different moods, so you’ll want to be sure that the linens and coverings you choose will work well with the existing light in the space.
